Victory of Students from King Abdullah II School of Information Technology at the Arab Olympiad for Artificial Intelligence 2025

 With great pride and honor, we congratulate the University of Jordan and the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology for their team achieving advanced positions in the Arab Olympiad for Artificial Intelligence 2025.

The team consisted of a distinguished group of students from the fields of artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity, under the supervision of Dr. Tammam Al-Sarhan. The team members are: Yazan Abdullah, Malek Al-Saudi, Noor Al-Dahisat, Jood Dababneh, Noor Yaqoub, Anas Mousa, and Wissam Al-Mohasna.

They competed fiercely across five main tracks and achieved remarkable accomplishments, with their results as follows:

  • First place in the Problem Solving track
  • Second place in the Machine Learning track for their project titled “Empowering Arabic Culture with AI Sign Language Recognition”
  • Second place in the Computer Vision track for their project titled “Detecting People Under Rubble”
  • Third place in the Embedded Systems track for their project titled “Fire Fighting Robot”

The Arab Olympiad for Artificial Intelligence serves as a leading competitive platform that gathers Arab youth in a series of specialized competitions in the field of artificial intelligence, with the aim of enabling them to apply 21st-century science and skills in real life. This year’s edition was held in Amman, at the Landmark Hotel, on Saturday, April 26.

More than 300 students from various Jordanian universities participated in the fourth edition of the Arab Olympiad for Artificial Intelligence 2025, including Al-Balqa Applied University, the German University, Princess Sumaya University, Al-Hussein Technical University, and Al-Zaytoonah University, in addition to Arab universities from Qatar, Lebanon, Yemen, Libya, Palestine, and Egypt, adding a distinctive character of diversity and creativity to the competition.

In this context, we extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Basel Mohafza, Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology, and Dr. Ruba Obaidat, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, for their ongoing support and blessed efforts. We also express our gratitude to the Computer Science Department for their effective and distinguished participation. Additionally, we would like to extend our deep appreciation to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, represented by Dr. Reem Al-Faiz, for their extensive support and continuous assistance to the team.

Together, we move forward towards more achievements that befit our university and our beloved homeland.​
