Ø Background to the program and subject area:
The Business Information Technology (BIT) Department was established in 2003-2004 at King Abdullah II School for Information Technology (KASIT) in Jordan University. Since its establishment, the BIT department is aimed at the preparation of highly qualified students to be effective users and managers of information technology and systems in the current environment of the technology- enabled business firms. The curriculum for this department is designed to:
1. Ensure that students will receive excellent knowledge on the function to which computers are applied in organizations,
2. Ensure that students will get good Knowledge and training on the design and development of computing applications in the area of Web Publishing and E – Business,
3. Make sure that information technology knowledge will foster students' capability and creativity in decision making, as well as will serve to engage students' in meaningful problem- solving activities.

The BIT department vision is summarized as follows:
1.Define a new vision for education in Business Information Technology.
2.Becoming a showcase for emerging technology.
3.Developing new ways to balance between theory and practice and the essential link between them. Graduates of a BIT program must understand not only the theoretical underpinnings of the discipline but also how that theory influences practice.

5.Demonstrating excellence in research linked to excellence in teaching and learning.

BIT Department aims to define a new vision for education in Business Information Technology by:
1.Redefining subject boundaries and creating new holistic and multidisciplinary approaches.
2.Being effective in enquiry, teaching and learning, embracing new methods of delivering knowledge supporting learning.
Providing opportunities for students to develop their full potential through the Business Information Technology courses of study educational experiences that are challenging and stimulating.
Ø Program Aims:
The objectives of BIT department can be summarized as:
1.Supplying the society with highly qualified and well trained graduates with a wide range of transferable skills in Business Information Technology disciplines, including independent learners and team workers, enabling them to function effectively in the public and private sectors to meet the needs of Jordanian and the region in the several fields of Business Information Technology.
2.Graduating graduates capable of performing research and postgraduate studies that fill the need for professional instructors, lecturers, researchers and developers in Business Information Technology.
3. Maintaining and fostering an interaction ties with local, regional and international communities by means of extending invitation to external lecturers, holding local seminars, cooperating with local firms, and attaining local, regional and international conferences.
4.Develop a solid policy based on specific standards for employee appointments.
5.Develop comprehensive, clear and rigorous admission procedures for admitting students to the department on competitive basis.
6.Allowing students from various regions in Jordan and from different countries to enroll in the BIT department, including disabled people
